 | | On 7th October 2024, the Grant Agreement was signed between the European Funds Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, as the Beneficiary, for the joint financing of the project titled “Replacement/Upgrade of Communication Systems”.
The project objective is to upgrade the JRCC communications through the supply of an advanced communication system and telecommunications equipment, so as to increase its capabilities for the effective control of migration flows from Middle East countries in crisis, combat illegal smuggling and transport of third-country nationals (TCN) into Cyprus and other European countries and deal with any possible maritime accidents during TCN smuggling.
The project implementation period is from 01/07/2024 to 31/12/2026.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy (BMVI), with the joint financing of the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus and a total budget of €2,000,000. |
