In their capacity as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds for the 2021-2027 Programming Period, the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior announces that a Call for Proposals is planned to be published within the context of the Programme of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and in accordance with the objectives stated in article 3 of the Regulation (EU) 2021/1147 of the European Parliament and the Council of 7th July 2021 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
Specifically, the Call for Proposals is expected to be published in December 2023 and it will be pertinent to the funding of projects falling within the Specific Objectives 1 “Common European Asylum System” and 2 “Legal migration and integration”.
In accordance with article 3 of Regulation (EU) 2021/1147, the Specific Objective 1 is related to “strengthening and developing all aspects of the Common European Asylum System, including its external dimension” and the Specific Objective 2 is related to “strengthening and developing legal migration to the member-states, according to their financial and social needs, and promoting and facilitating effective integration and social inclusion of third-country nationals”.
In particular, the call will concern the following projects:
• Establishment and operation of an Open Reception Centre for Unaccompanied Minors who are third-country nationals
• Establishment and operation of an Open Reception Centre for Vulnerable Persons-Applicants for international protection
• Greek language courses for Adults
• Greek language courses for Minors
• Establishment of a Migrant Information Centre (MIC).
The projects which will be selected for funding shall be implemented at easily accessible locations on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, mainly in urban centres. The Call will specify the geographical range within which each project may be implemented.
The total amount of the fund which will be granted through the forthcoming Call for Proposals is expected to be around €3.5 million. The Call will specify the available budget per project.
According to article 2, paragraph 9 of the Common Provisions Regulation, a potential beneficiary for the implementation of a co-funded project may be a “public or private body, an entity with or without legal personality, or a natural person, responsible for initiating or initiating and implementing operations”. The Call will specify the category in which the requesting implementation body of each project shall fall.
