A Grant Agreement was signed on 05 June 2024 between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Cyprus Police as the Beneficiary, to finance the project titled “Provision of AFIS Maintenance Services”.
The project is pertinent to the provision of maintenance services for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), through preventive maintenance for the AFIS equipment, corrective maintenance for the equipment – which will be carried out when required and shall include works and spare parts to fully restore any failure or problem that occurred – and the software update to install the latest versions.
The implementation of the project will ensure the efficient and effective operation of the AFIS system, aiming to prevent and combat crime and improve cross-border police cooperation between the involved authorities and Member States, by exchanging information to effectively combat terrorism and cross-border crime.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Internal Security Fund, funded by the European Union, with a total budget of €1,988,295.61.
