On 29th May 2024, a Grant Agreement was signed between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Civil Registry and Migration Department, acting as the Beneficiary, for the implementation of the project titled “Strengthening of the Combatting of Irregular Migration”, which is co-financed by the European Union.

The objective of the project is to strengthen the Irregular Migration and International Protection Sector of the Civil Registry and Migration Department, by employing 27 Officers (fixed-term employees), aiming at the management and support regarding Irregular Migration matters.

The project is implemented within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and it is jointly financed by the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus, with a total budget of €1,084,130.74.
