At the beginning of 2009, Cyprus submitted the Updated National Implementation Programme of 2008 (I.P 2008) to the European Commission, which reflects the updated list of residential estates with an equivalent population greater than 2000 persons.

The I.P 2008 included in total 57 residential estates, 7 urban residential estates (630.000 e.p) and 50 rural residential estates (230.000 e.p) with a total equivalent population of 860.000 the I.P 2008 presents an increase of 21.5% in equivalent population.
