A Grant Agreement was signed on 7th February 2024 between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Cyprus Police, as the Beneficiary, for the joint funding of the “Maintenance of the Disaster Recovery Backup System” project.

The main objective of the project is the maintenance of the computerised equipment and software of the Disaster Recovery Backup System, which ensures (a) the unrestrained storage and recovery of data kept in the Central System of the Police and the Schengen and Sirene National System in case it is destroyed and (b) the uninterrupted operation of the system and the efficient execution of queries in the database.

The project is implemented within the framework of the Internal Security Fund (ISF), and it is jointly funded by the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus. The total budget of the project is €540,400.00.

The time duration for the project implementation is six years, starting from 17/8/2022 until 16/8/2028.
