| | Two Grant Agreements were signed between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds and the Social Welfare Services (SWS) as the Beneficiary of the two projects.
The Agreements which were signed are pertinent to the funding of two Specific Actions which provide for services for Unaccompanied Minors within the framework of the national asylum system, as well as for children separated from their parents.
The two Specific Actions are integrated in the Programme of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund as additional EU funding with a total budget of €30 m. The additional funding was approved within the context of a competitive procedure, after a request by the RoC within the framework of the EU Calls for Proposals.
It is noted that the implementation period of the two Specific Actions is 50 months, i.e. the period from October 2023 to December 2027.
The two Specific Actions are pertinent to:
1. Support for the accommodation of unaccompanied minors by the SWS - AMIF/2024/SA/1.2.1/8
The Action funds both the development of new accommodation places (beds) in a new Reception Centre for Unaccompanied Minors or new Centres, and the total budget is €15,154,838.00.
2. Support to SWS infrastructure for unaccompanied minors - AMIF/2024/SA/1.2.1/9
The Action funds both the operation of new places (beds) of Semi-Independent Living for Unaccompanied Minors and the employment of fixed-term Social Service Officers, including an important number of guardians and Institution Officers for Unaccompanied Minors, as well as support staff. The total budget of the Action is €15,723,270.44.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and is co-funded by the EU and the Republic of Cyprus. |
