A Grant Agreement was signed on 23rd February 2024 between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Civil Registry and Migration Department, as the Beneficiary, for the joint funding of the project titled “Forced Returns of Third Country Nationals”.
The main objective of the project is the increase and strengthening of forced returns, aiming to reduce the number of Third-Country Nationals who are proven not to fulfil the criteria and conditions for a legal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, the promotion of an effective treatment of Third-Country Nationals staying illegally in Cyprus and the improvement of the system of management of migration flows in general, within the context of implementing a targeted and effective policy on returns.
The project has been implemented since May 2022, within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), and it is jointly funded by the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus. The total budget of the project is €2,730,459.57.
The project implementation period is from 01/05/2022 to 30/06/2024.
